To promote a trustworthy internet by providing open tools for verifying, validating, and tracing media to its source, reducing the power of generated and altered content by making authenticity verifiable.
What we believe
We exist to prove what's real.
Right now, anyone can publish anything and call it real. Fabricated images shape public opinion. Manipulated videos end careers. Stolen photos get weaponized for narratives far outside their original intent. The people consuming this content have no reliable way to tell what's genuine and what isn't.
The answer isn't chasing fakes: it's allowing content to express its original intent. When truth is verifiable, lies lose their power.
Verification should be open and universal. Not locked inside one platform, not dependent on one company's tools. It should work everywhere, survive anything the internet throws at it, and be checkable by anyone.
The internet should be a place where truth overshadows the lies, not the other way around.
What we're building
Sigil is your proof of ownership. You sign your work, and we register it. From that point on, we monitor the web for your content. If someone uses it without permission, we let you know: where it appeared, when, and how it was used.
Your claim stays with your content forever, no matter where it ends up or what happens to it along the way. Cropped, screenshotted, re-uploaded, it doesn't matter. The proof survives.
We use perceptual fingerprinting, not metadata. Metadata gets stripped the moment content moves across platforms. Our signatures survive because they're based on what the content looks like, not what's embedded in the file.
